I am S. Ashrita Rani pursuing my master’s in chemistry at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla. My research interests focus on drug delivery systems that enhance therapeutic effectiveness by controlling dosage frequency, timing, location, and route of administration. I have completed a Summer Internship at IREL, Berhampur, where I gained valuable exposure to industrial chemical processes, analytical techniques, and quality control workflows. I also undertook an industrial visit to MCL, where I observed large-scale mining operations, environmental management practices, and material handling workflows, gaining practical insights into industrial safety, automation, and resource extraction processes. This experience enhanced my practical laboratory skills, deepened my understanding of material characterization, and strengthened my ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world industrial applications. I am particularly interested in designing nanocomposite hydrogels, which overcome the limitations of conventional hydrogels through the integration of polysaccharides for biodegradability, synthetic polymers for improved swelling and compatibility, and carbon quantum dots (CQDs) for biocompatibility and fluorescence monitoring. By incorporating β-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes to enhance drug stability and release, and characterizing these systems through spectroscopy, microscopy, swelling, cytotoxicity, and drug release studies, I aim to develop advanced carriers with prolonged therapeutic potential and practical biomedical applicability.
